A thigh lift is done to reshape the thighs by removing excess fat and skin from the inner part of your upper legs. Occasionally liposuction is also used at the same time to improve thigh shape and size and to achieve the final outcome desired by the patient.
How a Thigh Lift is Performed?
Dr. Anzarut typically performs thigh lift surgery under a general anaesthetic. General anaesthetic makes the patient “sleep” during the procedure. A local anaesthetic is also injected into the area operated on to ease any postoperative pain and discomfort. Liposuction is performed if necessary during the same operation.
Who is the Ideal Thigh Lift Candidate?
The ideal candidate for this procedure is someone who is relatively healthy and a non-smoker. A patient who has excess skin and subcutaneous fat on the inner or outer thighs and wants it removed will benefit most from this type of operation. In addition, non-smokers will have a reduced chance of infection and a better healing process.
How do I Prepare for a Thigh Lift?
Avoiding herbal supplements and anti-inflammatory drugs for at least 2 weeks before your procedure will decrease your risk of bleeding. It is also important for the patient to have a stable weight and be a non-smoker prior to the surgery.
Why won’t Liposuction alone work?
Liposuction does not remove excess skin left over after the body fat has been removed. A thigh lift will reshape and tighten the upper thighs, as well as remove the excess skin. Many procedures will be performed in conjunction with liposuction to achieve the desired outcome for the patient.
What is the Typical Recovery after a Thigh Lift?
Typically, the recovery after a thigh lift, could take up to one month. Initially, you may feel some numbness due to the freezing performed during your operation. A surgical garment that you will be provided with after the surgery will help decrease the swelling and is encouraged to be worn for at least 6 weeks following the procedure. Wearing the garment is important after liposuction as you may be sore. Following the procedure, the patient is encouraged to engage in minimal physical activity to help decrease the risk of a blood clot. It is also common for the patient to take some time off of work after the operation which will help the recovery process.
